Saad followers submit memo to DCs to facilitate his arrival for Biswa Ijtema

Members of the faction of Tabligh Jamaat loyal to Maulana Saad submitted memorandums to district administrators across the country today, urging the government to facilitate the arrival of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi for the upcoming Biswa Ijtema.
Md Sayem, media coordinator for the faction, confirmed the development in a press release.
He stated that general members and scholars (Ulama-e-Keram) of Tablighi Jamaat presented memorandums in all 64 districts, including Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Mymensingh, and Rangpur, as well as to officers-in-charge of police stations in Dhaka city at 10:00am.
In addition to the district-level submissions, a memorandum was also presented to the chief adviser of the interim government.
“We hope the anti-discrimination government will address our demands and facilitate Maulana Saad’s arrival,” the group said, adding, “We are committed to ensuring his participation in the upcoming Ijtema at any cost.”
The first phase of the Biswa Ijtema, led by Maulana Zubair’s faction, is scheduled for January 31 to February 2, 2025. The second phase, organised by Maulana Saad’s followers, will be held from February 7 to 9.
Maulana Saad’s followers alleged discrimination during the Awami League’s tenure, claiming they were unable to bring their spiritual leader to Bangladesh due to opposition from the former home minister.
“For the past seven years, the followers of Maulana Zubair have been able to bring their spiritual leader without obstacles, but we have faced hurdles in securing Maulana Saad’s arrival,” they said.
The group added that Maulana Saad’s presence would elevate the event to a global level, drawing an estimated 50,000 foreign attendees.
They urged the government to issue a visa for Maulana Saad, appealing for equal treatment and cooperation.
